South Miami is really a great place to call home. It’s a diverse and small community where one can find everything needed, from grocery stores, to shopping and restaurants. The South Miami downtown has it all. It caters not only to the city of South Miami residents but also to the City of Miami (Ponce Davis Area, South Coral Gables and Pinecrest. Even though some of its business have struggle over the last few years, plans for a brighter and better future are in the works. In the recent elections, its residents approved a referendum what it can make, the much needed, revamp of South Miami’s landmark The Shops at Sunset Place a reality. These plans call for an 18-story hotel, residences, a new plaza, and a complete remake and facelift of the retail component. South Miami is also the 1st city in Florida to require solar panels on new constructions. New restaurants and businesses are coming over the next couple of months: Pub 52, The Boiling Crab, KAMPS, Three Chefs, The Dapper Doughnutand Natural Kitchen Chili and Garcia Nevett - Chocolatier de Miami…welcome to the neighborhood.
